Industry leading expertise in flotation cell hydrodynamics and the use of automated mineralogy for performance benchmarking
Plant consulting often challenging due to the state of historical data:
Mineralogical data frequently highly-summarized at the source (losing much value) and often available solely as pdf reports or untidy spreadsheets.
The more data analyzed, the more complete the picture. Yet forming a complete picture is often prohibitive in terms of time and cost within the scope of a normal project.
This drives the need for more interactive data, where data can be sorted, filtered, manipulated etc. quickly. Excel makes this possible, but is painful and time-consuming, and therefore prohibitively expensive.
Even when structured, large data sets render Excel unstable (>10MB typically) – and adding interactivity to allow for a more dynamic experience is rather "clunky".
Moving data to a relational database is specifically technical and therefore introduces a barrier to access for most metallurgists. It's not frequently done.

In 2009 Rob co-founded Blue Coast, initially as a consulting company and later as an integrated testwork laboratory, where he serves as a director and associate metallurgist.
As president of Metrix, Rob has a passion for bringing together specialized industry domain knowledge required for optimization projects, with the rich toolbox of data analysis software tools in order to provide a new service in the field of metallurgical support.
Peter is a graduate of UBC with a degree in Applied Science & Mineral Processing Engineering. Peter has 5 years industry experience including roles at Barrick Technology Centre (now Autec), and CESL before joining Blue Coast in 2016, where he participated in pilot plant campaigns and metallurgical laboratory testwork.
With a strong puzzle solving sensibility and a natural flair in coding, Peter then moved into Metrix in early 2017 with a remit to focus on advancing the development of Metrix custom dataSEA™ metallurgical software.
With 25+ years of database management / software development / project management / server administration for government and the private sector, Jackson brings a full stack portfolio to Metrix and dataSEA™. A decade in the field in industry facilitates understanding projects from both the programming and end user side. He has been an associate with Blue Coast Group since 2012 and with Metrix since its inception.
Mark has over 15 years IT experience as a Dev Ops Engineer with a strong Linux Operations background working mainly in the Banking and Finance Industries. Mark possesses expertise in a variety of programming disciplines and brings to Metrix high level expertise in the set-up and management of our dataSEA™ data platform.
Ben has over 15 years experience in IT, mostly with a global financial institution based in the UK, and specializes in database architecture and data management solutions. Ben is currently working within the field of Big Data in global finance. Ben advises Metrix on all facets of our back-end data systems and is a guiding light on our path to bringing big data solutions to the minerals processing industry.
